Having graduated in Social Communication and Graphic Design, Ana Luiza Gomes gathered experience on communication strategy during her ten years of work in projects so diverse and path breaking as the identity design of Art Institute Inhotim, the visual communication of the social entrepreneurs award Trip Transformadores, and the brand consulting for fashion label FARM. Yet she found her unyielding curiosity about the creative process well extended beyond the everyday work of the communication industry; she noticed that the richness of the Brazilian local production of artistic creation, storytelling and activism needed to rise to its due value and be (re)discovered by Brazilians themselves. She fomented her inspiration by advancing her studies on contemporary curatorial practices and research at the University of Arts in London, as well as assisting the curator of the 2015 Brazilian Design Biennial. The outcome was the foundation in 2015 of the research platform Andarilha, which she directs with the goal of investigating narratives about the history of Brazilian culture through the artistic work of innovators around the country. This initiative has had positive repercussions also back at the communication industry, an important one being the creation of the women’s network Sotaques during her contribution as coordinator of content and research at FARM.
